UNSW Economics Advisory Day
The UNSW School of Economics, in conjunction with EcoSoc, organised an Economics Advisory Day for students to find out about economics courses and careers. The event took place on the 7th of August, 2008.
Date: Thursday 7th August, 2008.
Time: 12-2pm
Location: Scientia Building (Kensington Campus - G19), Tyree Room (upstairs).
The Academic Advisory Day consisted of:
1) 1 hour of presentations from 12pm-1pm on:
- What is economics, and why you should study it
- What majors are available, and where they could lead you
- What is honours
- Masters of Economics programs
- Careers in Economics - highly successful ex-students will present their experiences
2) 1 hour to mill around stalls from 1-2pm, including:
- Separate stalls for each of the majors:
- Economics / Business Economics
- Econometrics and Business Statistics
- Business Strategy and Economic Management
- Financial Economics
- A stall for honours information
- A stall for Careers presenters
- An EcoSoc stall (Careers Showbags + freebies, membership, social networking party)
The event was open to all undergraduate students in the Australian School of Business, particularly students who were yet to choose their majors and would to know about the opportunities in Economics. Other students interested in Economics were also welcome.
